Betty Lay Graft

Betty Lay Graft, 96, of Middletown, died on April 10, 2026 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 27, 1929 in Middletown to Leonard and Hazel (Cartwright) Lawson.

Betty was always on the go and lived her life to the fullest. After raising her family, she became an active bowler and golfer and enjoyed playing bingo. Her weekends were spent dancing with her husband Tom at local venues or spending time with her family. In her later years she took up reading and playing cards with her treasured friends Marylin, Mary and Dottie. Betty was fiercely independent and lived on her own on her terms till her death.

Betty is survived by her daughters, Linda McDowell and Ann (LeeAnn Kidwell) Lay; son Jim (Carla Gae) Lay; six grandchildren Joshua McDowell (Victoria), Jonathan McDowell, Angie Wysong (Jeremy), Jacob Lay, Trish Lay (Katie Shannon) and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 1st husband Thomas Lay Sr., 2nd husband Robert Graft; sons Bill Lay, Thomas Lay, Jr. and Doug Lay; six siblings and 1 grandchild Brett.

Visitation will be Thursday, April 16, 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd (at Bonita Dr.) Middletown, OH.

Funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM with Deacon John Lyons officiating

Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery and Arboretum.
