Cyndi L. Amen

Cyndi L. Amen, 74, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2026, after a courageous journey with Parkinson’s disease. Born on August 22, 1951, in South Bend, Indiana, she lived a life marked by music, laughter, faith, and deep devotion to the people she loved.

Cyndi was the daughter of Richard and Delores Moffitt and grew up with a love of learning and the arts that would shape much of her life. She earned her degree in music education from Indiana University South Bend and carried that gift into the many ways she served others. Her work as a teacher with Wilmington OH City Schools, where she taught elementary music, gave her the opportunity to share not only knowledge, but encouragement and joy with generations of students. She had a way of making people feel at ease, and her presence in the classroom was brightened by her warmth and her steady sense of humor.

Music was woven throughout Cyndi’s life. She had a beautiful soprano voice and sang for many weddings and special events, lending her talent to occasions that meant so much to families and communities. She also took the stage in many summer musical productions at Wilmington College, where her love of performance and her gift for music came together in ways that brought happiness to many. Whether in a classroom, at a celebration, or on stage, Cyndi shared herself generously and left people with lasting memories.

Those who knew Cyndi will remember her most for her great sense of humor and her ability to make others laugh. She brought lightness into the lives of those around her, and her joy was genuine and contagious. She had a special way of connecting with people, making ordinary moments feel more memorable simply by being present. Her life reflected kindness, spirit, and a sincere appreciation for the beauty found in everyday life.

On November 25, 1972, Cyndi married Scott Amen, beginning a lifelong partnership filled with shared years and devotion. Together they built a family that remained at the center of her heart. She is survived by her husband, Scott; her child, Sacha Amen; her son-in-law, Marco; and her grandchildren, Max and Lucia, who brought her joy and added another cherished chapter to her life. She is survived by sister, Connie Hood (Dennis) and brother Tim Moffitt (Brenda).

Cyndi also lived with a strong faith that gave her comfort in her final days. That faith was a quiet but meaningful part of who she was, offering peace to her and strength to those who loved her.

She will be remembered not only for her talents and accomplishments, but for the warmth she brought to every room, the laughter she inspired, and the love she gave so freely. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished, the students she taught, the music she shared, and the many lives she touched along the way.

A funeral or memorial service is planned in her hometown of New Carlisle, Indiana, with the date to be announced
