David F. Hall

September 16, 1936 — March 23, 2026

Middletown, Ohio

On Monday, March 23, 2026, David Fredrick Hall entered the Kingdom of God, greeted by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ; his son, Jon Fredrick Hall; his parents, Luther and Pearl (Conner) Hall; and many more family and friends.

David was born in Middletown on September 16, 1936. He was a 1954 graduate of Monroe High School, where he met, what would be the love of his life, Shirley Garver. They were married in 1956 and would have celebrated 70 years of marriage on September 8, 2026. David worked for Armco Steel Corp. for 37 years, retiring as a maintenance supervisor in the Hot Strip in 1992.

After retirement, he and Shirley enjoyed many trips with friends and he developed a passion for annual jaunts to Amish country and Case Knife shows in Pennsylvania with his friend Don Garrett, who he fondly referred to as "Garrett". After Don's passing, David continued to go on occasion with a member of his family. His last trip to Berlin, Ohio was with his son-in-law, Joe, in 2024. He never turned down an invitation to go fishing at Caesar's Creek and was in charge of packing the lunches which would always include Pepsi. He and Shirley always had an open invitation to visit with his son and daughter-in-law in Florida and he was often found by the lake with a fishing pole in his hand. He quit golfing many years ago, but enjoyed riding along with his daughter, Jana, while his son-in-law, Jaimie, played the links. "Papaw" could rarely be kept away from a grandkid's sporting or school event; he was so proud of them.

David was a member of the Monroe United Methodist Church and a devoted follower of Christ for most of his life. He volunteered for many years with the "Grandpa Gang" that set up the lights for Light Up Middletown.

David is survived by his wife, Shirley; son, Jeffrey (Jeanette) Hall; daughters, Jill (Joe) Klontz and Jana (Jaimie) Johnson; six grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren.
