Deena L. Langworthy, 56, of Middletown, died on March 26, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her family and special friends. She was born on October 27, 1969, in Middletown, OH to Dr. William D. and Marilyn G. (Yeater) Langworthy.
Deena lived her life as an adult with developmental disabilities since birth and embraced her musical talents and interpersonal skills to connect deeply with family and friends. How do you put into words the impact Deena had on others? She was a bright star who could light up the room for her family and all those who knew her. Regardless of where you were emotionally, she always found a way to lift your spirits. She had an infectious smile and frequently would break into a Disney song or Christmas song to demonstrate her joy. One of her caregivers described her as “the happiest person” he had ever known. When she awoke in the morning and was asked who she dreamed about, she would typically say, “I dreamed of Dad.” Her love of family and friends was unending, which was reciprocal and defined her life profoundly.
Deena was preceded in death by her mother, Marilyn G. Langworthy; brother, David Langworthy.
Deena is survived by her father, Dr. William D. (Pat Skimming) Langworthy; sisters, Cheryl (Jim) Langworthy Irwin and Denise (Eddie Toro) Langworthy Hardin; nieces & nephews, Elizabeth Hardin Mathis (son, Bodi & daughter, Kit), Will (Jess) Hardin, Jenny Irwin, Meredith (John Klinger) Irwin (daughter, Ayla Mae & son, David), and James Irwin (son, Karsten); and, special friends, Barbara and Lancer Weinrich.
A Celebration of Life for Deena will be held May 9, 2026, at noon at First United Methodist Church, 120 S. Broad Street, Middletown, OH 45044 with Reverend Kim Armentrout officiating. A reception will follow at the church, allowing family and friends to gather and honor Deena’s memory.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Abilities First, 4710 Timber Trail Dr., Middletown, OH 45044, First United Methodist Church, 120 S. Broad St., Middletown, OH, 45044 or Ohio's Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45420.
