Glenna Rose Combs

January 9, 1934 — April 3, 2026

Monroe

Glenna Rose Combs, 92, of Monroe, died on April 3, 2026 at Ohio Living Mt. Pleasant. She was born on January 9, 1934 in Kents Store, VA to Roy and Hilda (Grim) Cutright.

Glenna was valedictorian of her graduating class and worked at the FBI before meeting Tom Combs, the Marine she spent the next fifty-two years with. She was a clerk (and devoted patron) at McAlpins/Dillards for many years. She was an active volunteer throughout her life with the PTA, youth sports, the Girl Scouts, The First United Methodist Church food pantry, tutoring, and Atrium Medical Center. She and Tom enjoyed traveling the Eastern and Southern Coasts extensively; always looking for sea shells and enjoying local cuisine and sights. She was a master pie maker and had perfected the art of a layered coconut cake. Glenna liked to read, bird watch, garden and spent many afternoons in a long established card club. She thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of antiquing and shared her expertise happily.

Glenna is survived by her children, Jan (Jim) Leary, Tamara (Jack) Totten and Jon (Lori) Combs; grandchildren, Douglas Parker, Sara Stimson-Murphy, Elli Broe, Amy Combs, Katie Brown, Jennifer Knauf and Sean Leary; great grandchildren, Evan Murphy, Owen and Elliot Parker, George and Annie Broe and Ethan and Dylan Leary. She leaves behind many devoted nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ray "Tom" Combs; sister, Fate Parr; brother, Roy Cutright.

Glenna was treated with compassion and care by Hospice Care of Middletown and would encourage donations in her memory to that service.

Services will be at the convenience of the family.
