James Leroy "Jim" Abel, 61, of Middletown, died on May 12, 2026 surrounded by loved ones at home. He was born on August 3, 1964 in St. Louis, MO to Dave and Elsie (Quinn) Abel.
He worked as an assembler at SO-LOW Environmental. Jim enjoyed restoring cars with his son, Damen. He liked to spend time at car shows and swap meets. He loved playing pool and was in a league many years ago. He was a skilled model airplane pilot and was one of only two people in the United States that could fly turbine power control line model planes.
James is survived by his father, Dave Abel; son, Damen (Jillian Gyger) Abel; sister, Julie (Art) Theocles; brother, Dan (Carla) Abel, and many other loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Elsie Quinn and his twin siblings, Karen & Marcia Abel.
Funeral Services will be Thursday, May 21, 2026 at 1:00 pm at Spaulding Funeral Home & Crematory, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., (at Bonita Dr.) Middletown with Pastor Alex Groth officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery.
