Mary Ann Yauch

Mary Ann (Marchetti) Yauch, 92, passed away on August 5, 2026, spending her final days with all of her family by her side. She was born on October 30, 1933, a first-generation American, the daughter if Italian immigrants Nicola and Maria Rosa Marchetti.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brothers, Achille, Amedea, and Anthony Marchetti. This was her foundation of her lifelong love of family, cooking, pets, and gardening.

She is survived by her husband, Robert E. Yauch; daughters, Kristina M. Yauch and Elizabeth (Ronald) Joseph; grandchildren, Aaron Mucha, Curtis (Brielle) Joseph, and Alissa (Brian) Joseph; and many step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Mary Ann was a lifelong member of St. John's Church (nka Holy Family Parish), where she received all of her Sacraments, and graduated from St. John School in 1950.

She met her husband, Bob, at a Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) event, and the two were married on February 23, 1957.

Mary Ann began her working life at Armco Research before leaving to raise her family. Once her children were through elementary school, she returned to the workforce, and most people in the area remember her from the more than 25 years she spent managing Elder-Beerman's in Middletown. Her sharp eye for fashion meant she was always dressed to the nines -- and she never hesitated to let family members know when their own outfits needed a little adjustment.

She later became the first female President of what was then the Sons of Italy, Frank D. Vitori Lodge #2142. It was under her leadership more than thirty years ago that the Holy Family bocce leagues were established; these leagues continue today.

An eclectic and energetic woman, Mary Ann was also a Girl Scout Leader who ran the summer camps at Middlemoor and Fresh Air Camp; she was an accomplished square dancer at the Challenge Level; and she enjoyed bowling and playing cards with family and friends.

She and Bob shared a love of camping that evolved over the years -- from tents to a pop-up camper, to a couple of different trailers, to a couple of different motorhomes. During their early retirement years, they traveled the nation together with the NOMADS Family Motor Coach Association.

Mary Ann will be remembered for her devotion to family and faith, her leadership within her community, her generosity, and her unmistakable strength and style.

Visitation will be Monday, August 10, 2026 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM at Spaulding Funeral Home & Crematory, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. (at Bonita Dr.), Middletown, OH 45044.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, August 11, 2026 at 10:00 AM at Holy Family Parish, St. John's Catholic Church, 1405 1st Avenue, Middletown, OH 45044.

Interment will follow at Woodside Cemetery.
