Michael E. Snyder, age 79, of Monroe, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 2, 2026, at Atrium Medical Center. He was born on July 1, 1947, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late Raymond W. and Christine (Causey) Snyder.
A graduate of Taft Senior High School, Michael began his lifelong work ethic early as a press room courier for the Journal News. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, working in computer operations at the Pentagon with the USAMSSA. Following his military service, Michael earned his associate's degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Applied Science.
Throughout his dynamic career, Michael worked for American Tool Works, the City of Hamilton, and spent 27 dedicated years with ARMCO/AK Steel, where he earned the nickname "Killer." An entrepreneur at heart, he owned and operated IGNC Communications for 18 years, taught as an adjunct professor at Miami University, and participated in the Bogen School of Sound "ACE" Program.
Above all, Michael lived a life of extraordinary service to his community. Named the Fairfield Jaycees "Man of the Year" in 1977, he poured his energy into countless local organizations. He served as Cubmaster for BSA Pack 982, coached youth basketball for Lindenwald/Fairfield, and supported Hamilton West Side Little League and the Soap Box Derby. His leadership extended to the Executive Board of the American Cancer Society, the Senior IRM Captaincy for the United Way Campaign, the Hamilton Elks Club, the Chamber of Commerce, and the Atrium Medical Center Foundation, where he later volunteered in the mail room. Recognized by WMOH as "Today's Man," he was also a proud supporter of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, Habitat for Humanity, and First United Methodist Church.
Beyond his community involvement, Michael had a genuine passion for life. He was an avid sports fan who rarely missed a chance to cheer on the Cincinnati Reds, Dayton Dragons, Cincinnati Bengals, and UC Bearcats. An enthusiast of history and an avid collector of Tootsietoy cars, Michael always enjoyed kicking back to the music of The Rolling Stones. Above all, Michael was a deeply faithful man whose greatest joy in life was his family.
Michael is survived by his loving wife, Linda Snyder; his children, Bridgett (Greg) Lehman, Timothy Snyder, Toni Hancock, Rick (Bridget) Clark, Beth (Bill) McGuire, Connie (Steve) Falearos, Barb (Brent) Sturgis; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren, and special family member Brian Hancock.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Christine Snyder, and his stepmother, Jackie Snyder.
