Nancy E. Osborne, 90, of Germantown, passed away Thursday April 16, 2026 at Carlisle Manor. She was born on the second floor of the family home on Howard Ave. on Flag Day, June 14, 1935, the first child of Adam C. and Edith T. (Bevins) Sohn.
Nancy was a 1954 graduate of Carlisle High School, where she was class secretary/treasurer, was on homecoming court and was a member of the newly started Modern Music Masters. As a teenager she was invited to play the musical introductions for the shows on WPFB. She continued to share her musical talents by teaching piano and organ lessons to the young, the young-at-heart and any age in between for more than 50 years.
Nancy ran a tight ship at home and was always a strong presence in her children's lives. From being president of the PTO at Wildwood Elementary, to assistant Girl Scout Leader, to Mother Advisor of the Middletown Rainbow Girls Assembly #68. She and her husband, Dick, were avid beekeepers for most of their lives. They were active members of the Warren County Beekeepers and both served as officers for the Ohio State Beekeepers Association.
In 1986 Nancy and the family moved to "The Farm" in Germantown when her parents retired to Lake Lorelei. She found great happiness in raising rabbits, goats and sheep and showing them at local county fairs. Nancy always continued with her music, playing organ and/or piano for several area churches until she accepted the full-time position of organist at Franklin First United Methodist Church, which she held for 25 years. Nancy was a very active member of the church. She helped with refreshments for the fellowship time and assisted with Rotary lunches. She greatly enjoyed the mission programs and went to Red Bird Mission several times. Nancy was instrumental in growing the summer lunch program at the church into the year round Community Dinners. She could always be seen driving her red truck to pick up donations from area businesses that were helping to support this cause. Nancy's dedication to this effort led to her being given the 2009 Perry Maxwell Award by the Franklin Area Chamber of Commerce. As time went on and Nancy had to slow down, she once again found peace at The Farm, where she enjoyed walking the fields and feeding the birds. She also continued her Bible study, which had always been one of her most cherished hobbies.
Nancy is survived by her son, Mike (Jamie) Osborne; daughters, Melodie (Rusty) Rickard, Rebecca Jacobs and Deanna (Brian) Bush; grandchildren, Zach (Claire) Osborne, Craig (Jessica) Branan, Eric (Miranda) Branan, Chelsi (Ryan) Dempsey, Kaitlyn (Kyle) Hunteman, Cameron (Courtney) Bush, Claire Bush and Abbie Bush; great grandchildren, Briley, Emily and Millie Branan, Isla Branan, Dottie, Liam and Emerson Dempsey and Elodie Hunteman; as well as numerous loving extended family members and friends, especially dear family friend, Mike Liesner, who always made sure Nancy had plenty of chocolate.
In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, C. Richard "Dick" Osborne; infant daughter, Cheryl E. Osborne; grandson, Adam M. Osborne; son-in-law, Michael "Jake" Jacobs; brother, Don A. Sohn; and sister, Judy A. Sohn.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Carlisle Manor for always taking such wonderful care of Nancy, the residents who became her friends and the staff of Hospice Care of Middletown for helping all of us navigate the final days of Nancy's journey.
