Roger Lee Kistner

Oct 9, 1948 — Aug 28, 2026

Lebanon

Roger Lee Kistner, 77, passed away on August 28, 2026 at Ohio's Hospice of Butler and Warren Counties following a brief, hard-fought battle with cancer. He was surrounded in his passing by his loving family.

Roger was born in Dayton, Ohio on October 9, 1948. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ferdinand and Marguerite Kistner and sister Marilyn Kistner.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Debra A. Kistner; daughter, Michele (Steven) Minor of Lebanon, Ohio; son, Matthew (Megan) Kistner of New Albany, Ohio; grandchildren, Rachel Burkhardsmeier, Ryan Minor, Caden, Carter and Beckett Kistner; and great-granddaughter, Sabrina Burkhardsmeier.

Roger was a 1966 graduate of Lemon-Monroe High School. He received a Bachelor's degree in accounting from Miami University, and a Master's degree in finance from Xavier University.

He worked for over 40 years in accounting at Armco Steel Corp., Water Refining Co., McCauley Propellers and Dee Sign Co. Being a person who never like to be idle, after one month of retirement, he took a part-time job in the automotive garage at Walmart in Mason that lasted 15 years.

Roger loved and appreciated his life in every way. He was a man of deep faith and a member of Monroe United Methodist Church for many years. He was such a well-rounded person, and had so many different interests that gave him great pleasure. He loved working in his yard, walking in nature, reading and learning new things. He loved music of all kinds, maintaining his home and cars and loved playing and watching sports.

Most of all Roger loved his family. He was the truest example of what a husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather should be. He was always there to offer his support and help in any way. His greatest joy was watching his own children participate in school activities and sports, and he felt very blessed to be able to do it all over again with his grandchildren. His passing will leave a huge void for his family, but he is leaving them with so many treasured memories that will love on in their hearts forever.

Visitation will held at Monroe United Methodist Church on Saturday, September 12, 2026 from 9:00 - 11:00 AM with a service immediately following. Inurnment will be at Woodside Cemetery with a reception luncheon at the Woodside Community Room.
