Ruth Burkett

Ruth Burkett (nee Turner), 84, of Monroe, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on August 25, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 12, 1942, in East Columbus, Indiana.

Ruth was the daughter of the late Roy and Dona (Shepard) Turner.

Ruth is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years, Jerry Burkett; daughter, Shawna (Terry) Nisbet and granddaughters, Erika (Tommy) McGuire, Rachel (Dylan) Brown and great grandchildren, Jordy Brown, Riley Brown and Grady McGuire.

Ruth is survived by her brothers, David Turner, Paul (Lisa) Turner; sisters, Rebecca Hancock, Rachel Turner and Mary (Brad) Hartman.

Preceded in death by her siblings, Phillip Turner, Jeremiah Turner, Joe Turner, Anna Turner, Jewel Turner, Hannah Adams and great grandson, Nash McGuire.

Ruth grew up in David, Kentucky. She graduated from Alice Lloyd College and moved to Middletown, Ohio in 1963.

Ruth worked at NCR for 33 years before retiring from the company’s accounting department.

Ruth was passionate about gardening, sewing and cooking for her family. She loved spending her days caring for her flower beds and yard, carefully creating a beautiful landscape with each flower and rock carefully placed. She had a deep love for animals with her home always being filled with cats and a beloved dog.

The pride and joy of her life was her twin granddaughters. She cherished watching them grow up and enjoyed attending their many sporting events and cheering them on. Her three great grandchildren brought her endless joy and held a very special place in her heart.

The family would like to send a special thank you to Hospice Care of Middletown for their wonderful love and care.

Private services will be held with interment at Woodside Cemetery.
