Ruth Whitman

Ruth Whitman, 83, of Monroe, Ohio died Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at Mt. Pleasant Retirement Village. She was born in New Mexico on August 29, 1929 to parents Robert E. and Rachel (Pohl) Ives.

Ruth worked as a physicist for NASA for 29 years, retiring in 1985. She served her country in the United States Air Force.

Mrs. Whitman is survived by her sons, Robert L. (Carol) Whitman & James N. (Deana) Whitman; sister, Elizabeth St. Ives; and grandchildren, Rachel Whitman, Katie Whitman, Greg Whitman & Melissa Whitman.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Major James P. Whitman in 2008; parents; and brother, Loren St. Ives.

Memorial service will be held Thursday, August 15, 2013 at 2:00 pm at St. Martin's Episcopal Church, 1333 Jamestown Rd., Williamsburg, Virginia.
