W. Edgar MacDonald

W. Edgar "Ed" MacDonald, of Monroe, passed away at home on Friday, March 6, 2026, just short of his 100th birthday, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born in New Concord, Ohio on May 5, 1926 to parents, John Clark and Mary Bessie (Kennedy) MacDonald.

Ed was the owner/operator of MacDonald Insurance in Monroe. He was a proud World War II veteran of the United States Army. Ed was an active member of the Monroe United Methodist Church. He was also a member of High Point Masonic Lodge #773.

Ed is survived by his son, John (Jennifer) MacDonald; daughters, Karen (Tim) Williams and Cheryl (Bill) Helsinger; dear friend, Iva Lynch; 9 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and many loving extended family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Marjorie (White) MacDonald; 2 brothers; 2 sisters; and 2 great grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be Friday, March 13, 2026 at 12:30 p.m. at Monroe United Methodist Church, 206 East Ave., Monroe, with Bill Helsinger and Reverend Jeff Motter officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00 am - 12:15 p.m. at the church with Masonic Services at 12:15 p.m. Interment will be at Mound Cemetery, with military honors conducted by the Middletown Combined Honor Guard.
